CHANGE YOUR STRIPES COLLECTION: "Change Your Stripes began with the discovery of a set of resin cameos made in 1950 in Japan. They were originally commissioned to decorate cufflinks. One of the cameos features Janus, the god of duality and new beginnings. I thought, wouldn’t it be fun if I could create a collection that embodied this duality? I envisioned a set of limited edition reversible jewels. Some days we want to embrace our fun and youthful side, and others we more serious, more ‘grown up’. These reversible rings and pendants capture these changing moods; changing your stripes. Flip the central disc in the ring or pendant to reveal a joyful nostalgic striped miniature painting featuring icons of the natural world; or to reveal a resin cameo featuring a warrior, god or nymph, embodying our adult nature. A sought-after miniature artist created the enamel paintings from collages I created –images from my mind’s eye. These are set with diamonds and rhodolite, bringing an animated sparkle. Cherries, radishes, lemons, peas and tomatoes are set on a vibrant picnic cloth. The table is visited by beetles, butterflies and snakes. It’s a fantastical summer scene that evokes the nostalgic feeling of a summer picnic and the hazy, happy memories of youth."
